An age of pirates and philosophers, memorable men from the time are the stage favorite Captain Hook and dramatist Moliere.  Coming out of the Cavalier period, men's clothes became more flamboyant.  Decked out in bright colors and lavishly ornamented outfits, men of the time wore the first true coat and vest.  Women's clothing became more tailored and consisted of tightly fitted bodices which were worn slightly off shoulder along with overskirts tied back with ribbons to reveal richly decorated underskirts.  A beautiful and interesting time period, the Restoration gave way to the lavish excesses of the Enlightenment.
